Red Shield Insurance Company was established in 1979. The company began writing policies for the general public in 1986 and with the help of a local insurance underwriter, Mr. Ed Altorfer, Red Shield began writing policies for small to mid-sized businesses. The company provides regionally based policies written through local insurance agents that have the expertise their clients deserve. Based in Portland, Oregon, Red Shield’s western regional scope covers the states of California (floating property only), Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
